Aromas Italian Cuisine opened for business in early June of 2017 in the building formerly known as the Clearwater Lake General Store and more recently the home of Old Stag Restaurant.  Owners Bill and Karen Hren wanted to fill a niche in the Northwoods area by providing their customers with authentic Italian food.  This is the Hrens’ fifth restaurant together and the fourth in Three Lakes.   Together with Chef Barbara Bennett, front-of-the-house and bar manager Roger Brisk and a great kitchen and dining room support staff, Aromas has earned a great following of both local residents and tourists of all seasons.

Chef Barb is a 2009 graduate of the Nicolet College Culinary Arts program.  She grew up in Three Lakes and always enjoyed cooking with her parents and grandparents, even as a very young girl.  Barb officially began her restaurant career at age 14 by taking a job doing dishes and bussing tables at the former Old Stag restaurant.  After graduation from Nicolet College she went on to work at several restaurants in the surrounding area, learning different techniques and cooking styles.  Her passion for cooking Italian food came from her desire to bring people together over a nice glass of wine, freshly prepared ingredients and shared conversation.

Roger attended Waukesha County Technical College pursuing a Marketing and Retail degree.  He put himself through college working as a bartender.  After spending twenty-four years as a sales and finance manager in the auto business, he relocated to Three Lakes in 2010.  He has returned to his bar and restaurant roots by becoming our front of the house and bar manager.
